The word on the street is Bull Trout fishing has been great on the Metolius. Streamers have been producing and the bigger the better! If you are looking to effectively streamer fish, an eight weight rod, heavy flies, and sink tips can all help for getting more hook-ups. Don't hesitate throwing streamers as big as 8 inches long. Nymphing can be just as effective using heavy tungsten nymphs with small droppers. The Bulls will eat small nymphs like a trout. Pheasant tails, serendipitys, egg patterns, and wd40's are all good choices.
Trout fishing can be great in October down there. Bwo's, October Caddis, and Mahogany Duns are the main hatches going on this time of year. This weather on top of it all has been perfect. I wouldn't miss out on these last warm bonus days and a chance at catching some big bulls on streamers.
