Crooked River Report
Water levels have been fluctuating on the Crooked River as of late. Prineville Reservoir was full of water this spring and to regulate the water level in the reservoir, they release the water out the dam and into the Crooked River. This makes fishing tougher due to the lack of stable water levels. Typically it takes a few days for the fish to adapt to the new flows and feel comfortable again. The water release from the reservoir should come to halt soon and the stable summer Crooked River flows will resume around 240cfs. Regards to the levels, there should still be some decent hatches of Bwo's and midges. Nymphing little midges and mayfly nymphs will produce along with the stripped leech in the deeper pools. Its spring time and everything is about to explode here in Central Oregon. The Crooked is always a fantastic option.
