The Bull Trout in the Metolius River are aggressive this time of year and are more than willing to obliterate a stripped streamer. Use large obnoxious white and black streamers. Look for structure and deep pools to rip flies across. Winter can be a great time to fish for bullies.
Trout fishing can be hit or miss depending on what is hatching. Good hatches of Blue Wing Olives can happen throughout the winter. Nymphing Stonefly patterens and egg patterns can be the ticket during the winter months. The whitefish will start spawning soon and little egg patterns can fish great.
