Crooked is still up and down

This week we saw the Crooked drop to 392cfs then jump back up to 750cfs or so, then drop back to 546cfs as of today. The water has been pretty turbid and the ups and downs have not been great for the fishing. Reports have been sparse, as most have avoided the water problems in favor of other "spring" creeks in the area. There should be some surface activity, but it has been as inconsistent as the water levels. We do know that the trout have to eat, so it is always worth a shot. This is a fun place to spend a day, as there is lots of water to explore and the scenery isn't to shabby either. Without an abundance of surface activity, it will prove beneficial to nymph scuds, midges and small mayfly nymphs like copper johns and PT's. Most bugs are small, so keep things in the 16-20 zone.
