Fishing for redsides down around the Maupin area can be decent this time of year. There have been Bwo's, midges, and small caddis hatching. The water levels are higher this time of year so the fish will be closer in towards the bank. The weather as of late has been super nice for this time of year. This surge of warm weather should get more bugs moving and hopefully the redsides looking up.
Steelhead fishing is pretty much over on the Lower D. There are still a few caught this time of year and you won't have to worry about many other anglers. However, it wont be long before they start spawning and we as anglers want to make sure we give them their space. We are so lucky to have beautiful wild steelhead on the Lower Deschutes. I hope for their future and an awesome upcoming season on the Lower Deschutes.
