The Metolious River is another great option in the winter months. There will be a bit of snow around here so be careful, especially if you venture below the hatchery, as they do not plow this portion of the road. The BWO hatches should happen in the early afternoon hours, so be patient and let it happen. Nymphing some small PT nymphs along with an egg pattern could be a good bet early or late in the day. There should be some whitefish spawning and the trout will suck up those eggos when they can. It might pay off if you rest whatever pool your fishing a few minutes before the hatch gets going which is usually around 1pm. You can put fish down quickly here, so watch for rise forms and present your offering carefully. Make your first cast count. Be prepared and have a few different flies ready. If you get a refusal, a quick swap out to another bug just might convince that fish to eat. If the trout fishing is sub par, you can always switch gears and chase those big Bull Trout. These predators will take a variety of large streamers and nymphs. Watch closely as you may just spot a few "logs" lying on the bottom.
