Summertime Blues
The Metolius is one of those places where you don't give a damn if you catch a fish or not. The natural beauty of the met is unreal. Beautiful rivers normally have beautiful fish as well. The Metolius is such a diverse fishery. Rainbows, Browns, Bull Trout, Kokanne Salmon, and in the near future hopefully some Chinook and Steelhead. Golden Stones are around on the upper river. Caddis and Pmd's have been coming off too. Late afternoon to last light can be one of the best times. Fish will feed in the eddies on spinners and spent caddis. Nymphing hares ears, pheasant tails, caddis pupas, and other mayfly nymphs have been producing. This is such a beautiful time on the Metoilus so get on out there.
