Terrestrials on the Fall
Mid-way through summer and air temperatures hitting 90's means there are going to be some grasshoppers around the water. Fishing hopper patterns or terrestrials on the fall can be rewarding. There are lots of downed tress and undercuts where those bows will hang out. Drifting a hopper close to the logs or undercuts will normally produce some action this time of year. Little black ant patterns can be effective as well. Hopper dropper combos are also a great way to go. There are lots of caddis, some pmd's and even Bwo's in the mix. Look for risers and be stealthy when approaching. Sometimes kneeling down or staying far off the bank is your best shot at one. The water is so clear and these fish can be so finicky. Fluorocarbon tippet in 4 to 7x is best. Nymphing rainbow warriors or zebra midges can produce. Don't forget the lead eye egg or streamer pattern. Get out there!
