The fall river can be a great wintertime outing. Winter months equal midges, streamers, Bwo's, and tiny zebra midges. Depending on weather conditions, hatches will occur right smack dab during the middle of day. Small Grifts Nats, winkers midge, tiny purple haze's, and Bwo imitations are all good dry fly patterns to have. Nymphing little zebra midges and stripping streamers in the heavy log jams can also be effective. Finding the fish this time of year can sometimes be the challenge. The hatchery section is always a great bet for finding fish. There is plenty of access for fishing so don't be afraid to explore. The Fall River will not disappoint visually this time of year and the crowds are nice and quiet.
