Metolius River Report
The Metolius River has been fishing decent for Bull trout and Rainbows. Bull trout fishing on the Met can be a blast. If your a steelhead junkie who is all about the grab and the swing, Bulls will viciously eat a swung streamer. Bull trout are predators that have no problem going after flies or fish the same size. Switch rods or 7 to 8 weight single handers with a sink tip and a streamer is the way to go after the bulls. If you don't want to throw out your rotator cuff throwing a weighted eight inch fly, switch or spey rods can help. Nymphing is also a fantastic choice this time of year. Little egg patterns, psycho princes, pheasant tails, and zebra midges can entice Bulls and Rainbows. Dry fly activity is super sporadic this time of year. Midges and Bwo's would be the best bet.
