Metolius River is a great Winter Fishery
Ah yes the Metolius River. The Metolius River is also one of those fisheries that is in the category of head scratching. Head scratching in the means of where are the fish? Why is there bug after bug floating down the foam line not being eaten? Being persistent and patient are some of the best ways to conqueor the Metolius. Winter time can be actually a fantastic time to fish the Met. Bull Trout are around willing to eat nymphs and streamers and decent hatches can happen at a moments notice. Cover lots of water and keep changing flies if nothing is happening. The fish have to eat! Patterns to try this time of year are: Bwo's, Pmd's, Small Caddis, Pyscho Prince, Flashback PT, Egg Patterns, and Large Streamers.
