Holiday Steelheading
I can't believe it's almost the end of the year! 2012 hasn't been the best steelhead fishing on the Deschutes but there were defenitly some awesome moments. The good news is there still is some time. Warm Springs to the Northern Boundry will close December 31st which means we have about two weeks left. Nymphing will definitely be the most productive this time of year because of colder water temperatures. Good nymph patterens to try are: Glo Bugs, Stonefly nymphs, large Copper Johns, and Peacock Stones. For swinging, use a heavy sink tip and dark leech. Maupin will stay open all year so once the Northern Boundry closes, there will still be more opportunities to catch some Deschutes Steel. Happy Holiday's everyone!
