Town Water

The Upper Deschutes has many sections to it. The headwaters starts from Little Lava lake and makes its way through Crane Prairie Reservoir and Wickiup before making a turn towards the town of Bend. On its way towards Bend, there are a series of falls. Benham Falls is the main falls and also is an important boundry. From Benham Falls upstream to Little Lava is closed. Benham falls downstream to Billy Chinnok is open. Fishing in the winter can be best due to water levels. The water levels will be significantly low making the fish pod up in the deeper pools. This allows us to be able to target the Rainbows and Browns better by getting to them. Using streamers and nymphing will be the best tactics to use. Stonefly nymphs, pheasant tails, scupzillas, and zonkers are good patterns to have. Fishing even in town can be productive. Were lucky to have the world famous Deschutes River run through this town. With that said, get out and use it!
