Fished Crane with Jon and Adam for day two on Wednesday (6/26). We decided that another day of frigid temps at East was not a good choice. We pulled into the boat ramp at Quinn greeted by more rain, wind, but milder temps. The previous weeks weather has taken its toll on Crane. The temps had dropped to 58 and the midge hatch has been put on hold. We had a very slow day but did get a look at a fish as it went air borne and freed itself from the end of Jon's line. They persevered another brutal day on the water and we all enjoyed the dryness and warmth of the truck.

Fished Crane again today (6/27) with Mark and Scott.A couple avid fisherman with a goal to unlock the mysteries of Crane Prairie. Although the weather has changed dramatically the water temps reached 64 degrees today we still saw little to no midge activity. The fishing is still slow, but  we got a few more nudges on the chronomids today and we did put a fish to hand. We spent the day exploring the whole lake looking for the elusive cranebow. Once again an enjoyable day on the water and today I did not need rain gear.

Crane is 2-5 days out from fishing well. This weekend and following weeks hot temps should start to push those fish out of the trees and out to the usual spots. The weed growth is just starting and should get a kick start this weekend and enhance the midge hatches hopefully curing a bad case of lockjaw. Good luck.
