Hosmer has been on and off. The fishing was lights out for big brookies a couple of weeks ago: double digit #s to 4 lbs. with a couple of bonus Atlantics. Last trip, just a half-dozen, half-hearted grabs and a couple of LDRs. Wind, variable water temps, and too much traffic can give them a pretty good case of lockjaw. Fortunately, you can often salvage a Hosmer trip fishing dries to the smaller atlantics. Calebaetis adults, Goddard Caddis, and Renegades are good places to start, and it's a good idea to carry a few ants just in case there's a fall. Subsurface, try scuds, leeches, dragon nymphs, very small nymphs, or bright marabou muddlers for Atlantics. You might have to pay some dues, but there are quality brookies, nice Atlantics, and some of the best scenery anywhere. Tight lines. - Jeff
