Upper D Brookies!
The Upper Deschutes from the headwaters at Little Lava lake to Crane Prairie has been producing some awesome brookie action. Throwing little attractor dries and ant patterns can produce lots of action from smaller fish. There have been some golden stones flying around so keep an eye out for the big bugs. To target the bigger brookies try getting down deep nymphing or swinging a big streamer under the undercut banks. There is also lots of down trees which provide awesome cover for fish. I would definitely expect to lose flies so make sure to have a few of each. Some good patterns to have are: Scupzilla, zonker, white crystal bugger, red copper john, ant pattern, caddis, purple haze, humpy, and yellow stimulator.
