Spring Creek Fun

The hatches of BWO's have been decent here. Look to the early afternoon hours and you should see some bugs and some rise forms. Make your presentations precise. No need to continue to lay down casts in the pool, just sit back, watch and only cast when you have pinpointed your fish. Sparse patterns seem to be best, as flash, rubber and foam wing stuff is just too obtrusive for these clear waters. A simple parachute or thorax pattern tied in the right size and color is all you'll need. If you plan on nymph fishing, try an Oct. Caddis Pupa or Golden Stone up front and drop off the back small Copper Johns, PT's and olive hare's ears in size 18-14. Change up your dropper if your not getting any action, as it pays to try lots of bugs in those nymph buckets.
