Saturday was wide open at Big Lava Lake and we had a ball. (An osprey snatching a 'bow 15' from the boat was a very cool bonus.) Water temp was 46 degrees and there is some false spawning around the gravel, so this should just get better until they go deep. Chironomids under indicators and stripping buggers both produced big time. The next month or so is a great time to get on the water for a 'bowfest. It's also a great fishery for kids right now: the smart money would be on them not getting bored.
