Soon the Big Green Mayflies will appear
The Green Drake hatch is just around the corner and this is one of the most fun hatches to fish on this river. These mayflies are BIG. Size 8-10 is about right. The hatch does not last long and generally starts in the late afternoon, 4pm or so. These big mays will get fish interested for sure. The thrashing strikes for emerging bugs is a sight to see. Nymphing these big flies early in the day is a good bet. The Golden Stone nymphs should not be far behind, so these nymphs will start to appear under the rocks close to shore. The "Met" is a great place to spend a day, just remember that it is a "tough" fishery, but the rewards are fantastic.
