Another Round on the Lower D with Larry Burch

I once again had the pleasure of taking Larry Burch and a friend of his, Hugh, out for a good day from Warm Springs to Trout Creek today.  We had some really hot action in the morning which tailed off a bit by mid-day and then picked back up in the evening.  The river was relatively uncrowded, which was nice, and the salmonflies seem to have returned.

We saw our best action on a Chubby-Pickle combo despite our efforts to get some action going on a Caddis Dry-Pupa rig that we set up after lunch.  Fish were pretty active on top on good Chubby drifts, especially in the morning, but the power of the Pickle might have taken the cake by the end of the day with respect to total number of fish caught.

Total numbers of fish might have been slightly off from last week, but its seemed to be the larger fish that were more active today.  We saw at least 2 fish in the 17-18" range and maybe more of that size that were turn-downs.
