Fish-able Levels, Finally!
Well, took a quick drive out to the Crooked on Thursday to make sure our upcoming guided trips actually had conditions that would fish well. I saw that the river dropped below 600cfs, but just wanted to make sure the clarity was fine. Good News! Although a shade higher than the ideal levels, the water is very fish-able. It was just a quick trip, to check conditions, but Friday the day was spent guiding a wonderful father and son, a Father's day treat. Thanks Aaron and John, fun day. There were fish hooked and caught, all on subsurface flies, as the sun was bright and hitting the water hard. Small stuff worked, just make sure you are checking your flies often, as the moss will swallow your nymphs up. Midges in the 18-20 size range, black or red seemed to be the best, while small psycho princes and blueberry nymphs hooked a couple.
