In shape
The Crooked has fished well over the last week or so. Levels are manageable and the fish are still there! There was some good surface activity on the last overcast day, but when the sun is high and bright the nymph fishing reigns supreme. Midges have been the best bet, black or red in size 18-22 fished a couple feet under an indicator. Other good flies would be scuds or small(16-20) mayfly patterns, like copper johns or PT's. If you find shade in the afternoon, try some emergent caddis patterns, like an X-caddis in tan or olive size 18 or so. The evening can be the best time to have good surface fishing, as the caddis will become more active nearer to dark.
