Caddis time!
Just got home from a Warm Springs to Trout Creek float. Fished with some great people that I've had in my boat a few times over the past three or four years. The fishing was outstanding! If you think the salmonfly hatch was good, try the Deschutes in July for even better dry fly fishing. The hot weather has kicked the caddis hatches into high gear and the trout are paying attention. Even in the middle of the day, the trout were rising freely to caddis adults. Riffles, tree lines, and back eddies all are holding fish right now. The evening fishing was excellent as well. X-Caddis and similar low riding patterns produced best. There is no reason to be nymphing at all right now. Just find a shaded area and have at it with your favorite dry caddis pattern!
