Golden Stones on the Metolius

These consistently warmer temperatures have drastically increased golden stonefly hatches in the upper stretches of the river.  Fish golden stone dries with a dropper tied 16-20 inches below it.  This can be a great tactic when you're searching for fish on this tricky river.  Caddis, PMD, and BWO hatches have been good on the rest of the river.  Spinner falls in the evening have the fish looking up until dark.  Remember to use smaller tippet sizes (6x) when fishing the spinner falls and smaller mayfly hatches.  This river will truly put your fly presentations to the test, so put your game face on and go have some fun!
