Fishing at East is holding up well in August due to its high elevation. The morning spinner falls of callibaetis mayflies have been incredible to say the least. Come prepared with flies that imitate the duns, spinners, emergers, and nymphs and you will do well. The fish are fat and healthy. Two days ago I had a young girl in my boat who caught the true East Lake slam by landing a Kokanee, Atlantic, brown, rainbow, and brook all in the same day! Well done Kate! Brook trout have become increasingly rare at East in the last ten years, so it was really cool to see such a healthy, beautiful fish!
